Reliable and cost-effective instrument for cable fault burning
Features Burning down high resistance/unstable faults to alter fault condition. 6 selectable ranges with AC and DC operation. High energy output, suitable for drying long wet cables under controlled condition. Interlock protection for safe operation.
Application Highest Voltage range is selected to ignite the fault on cable under test. The range is gradually lowered to get burn down at lowest Voltage range. A carbon bridge is formed across the fault after burn down. This helps in using ordinary PE/TDR instrument to get the fault distance. Carbon bridge is blown out by high energy surges during pin-pointing. AC Voltage ranges make it possible to carry out burning on LT mains supply cables on which consumers are connected.
